What You’ll Learn in BH 2.0
-
Session 1
Skating Fundamentals
Focuses on balance and edge control. Players are grouped by skill level and learn the evolution of the stride — from hockey stance to jumping, tucking, and edge work. Includes the half-snowplow stop and ends with British Bulldog to encourage agility in a fun environment.
-
Session 2
Stickhandling & Advanced Skating
Bridges movement and puck control. Explosive starts, crossovers, and tight turns are practiced, along with stationary and moving stickhandling drills to maintain puck control while transitioning forward and backward.
-
Session 3
Passing Mechanics
Focuses on spatial awareness and coordination. Moves from stationary to dynamic drills, including saucer passes and flow drills like the 3-man weave and horseshoes, teaching timing and receiving passes in motion.
-
Session 4
Shooting Techniques
High-repetition shooting practice emphasizing power and accuracy. Players rotate through stations practicing wrist shots, snapshots, backhands, slap shots, and game-like scenarios such as deflections, one-timers, and the “Montreal Canadiens” 5-0 drill.
-
Session 5
Positional Play & Breakouts
Focuses on team tactics and hockey IQ. Players learn their assigned positions (LD, RD, LW, RW, C) and zones, with an emphasis on “Breakout Magic” to transition the puck effectively from defense to offense.
-
Session 6
Controlled Scrimmage & Board Work
Applies previous skills in a game-realization format. Introduces accepting rimmed pucks off the boards with skates and moves into scrimmages, using whistle stops to provide real-time feedback on positioning and decision-making.
