I played everything but hockey growing up. After 53 years, I finally joined BH and found an amazing community. As a lifelong Oilers fan, I figured if I’m yelling at the TV, I should at least play. Now I’m yelling even more—loving the journey!

I moved to Canada a year ago and started watching hockey before I even arrived—getting into the Edmonton way of life. I planned to learn to skate in a year and play hockey in two. Eight months in, I’m already out there—maybe not Mcdavid yet, but definitely trying!

I never played sports growing up and couldn’t skate—my background was competitive bagpipes! When our daughters started ringette, I decided it was time to learn. I joined a learn-to-play program in fall 2023 and was instantly hooked. Learning to skate and play hockey alongside my husband has been an unexpected journey—and we’re loving every minute of it!
