12-week course

Beginner Hockey

SOC’s Beginner Hockey program is a 12-week intro to ice hockey for adults with no prior experience. No skating background required – the program builds step-by-step toward real gameplay.

Guided by experienced coaches, the program starts with skating fundamentals and builds step-by-step toward full hockey gameplay. The final four sessions are real games played with your new teammates against other beginner teams – a proper payoff for the work you put in.

Drop-in

Shinny / Pick-up Games

Once you’ve got your footing, drop-in shinny is the perfect way to rack up ice time without any commitment. Beginner-only, low-pressure, and a great way to meet other players.

Show up when it works for you. Sessions are structured to keep the pace right for beginners – no veterans, no pressure, just good hockey with people at the same level.

Skills Development

Targeted clinics for specific parts of your game – power skating, shooting, puck handling, and hockey IQ. Mix and match based on what you need most.

Power skating clinics focus on edges, crossovers, and stride. Shooting and puck handling sessions build your confidence with the puck. Hockey IQ classes help you understand the game at a deeper level. Each program runs independently so you can take what you need, when you need it.

SOC tournaments give you the chance to compete in a beginner-friendly format – organized, exciting, and still fun to play.

Events are organized for adult beginners and run at a pace that’s exciting without being overwhelming. It’s a great milestone to aim for once you’ve built some confidence through the other programs.
